Dual & Concurrent Enrollment

At Golden West College we are dedicated to helping high school students throughout our district achieve college and career readiness. In partnership with local high schools, we are striving to support students’ needs by:

  • Developing seamless pathways from high school to community college for Career & Technical Education programs;
  • Increasing students’ preparation to transfer to four-year colleges and universities starting in high school;
  • Supporting high school graduation rates by offering students opportunities to enroll in college prep courses.

At Golden West College there are four ways students can earn college credit while still in high school:

(High School Sites)

Students enroll in a GWC course offered on a high school campus during school hours and taught by a faculty member who meets the state Chancellor’s minimum qualifications for college faculty. The faculty uses the college’s course outline of record to teach the course. These courses are restricted and are only open to high school students.

(GWC Campus)

Courses are offered at Golden West College, taught by GWC faculty. These courses are offered as part of an agreement between GWC and the Huntington Beach Union School District and are completely free to students. Students receive dual credit at both their high school and GWC. The Dual Enrollment Release Form and Parent Consent Form must be completed and submitted to register.

See your high school guidance counselor for more details.

(GWC Campus)

Students enroll and attend a class at GWC with approval from their high school. Enrollment fees are waived but college related fees apply. Students receive college credit for courses taken. Students must complete and submit the Special Part-Time High School Release Form to register.
