Welcome to Golden West College Soccer

The women's soccer program searches for a boost to its program and has changed the coaching staff. Matt Wells and Alex Gimenez who have both coached the Men's Team for 5 years take over the program with hopes to revitalize it and bring it to a high competitive level in the toughest conference in the state.

Matt and Alex will share the coaching duties for both the Men's and Women's teams. They turned the Men's program around into a viable playoff contender, and with a strong recruiting class and solid returning players for the Women's side, they hope to immediately make some ground upwards in the standings.

There is a lot of excitement in the Women's camp as they prepare for a big transformation. Katie Roche joins the coaching staff as the Assistant Trainer. Katie played for Cypress College and CS Dominguez where she was captain and MVP.

Roberto Castellano, a former player at GWC for Matt and Alex, moves over to become the Men's Assistant Trainer taking the place of another former player in Jesse Strickland. Tony Medina will continue on as the Goalkeeper Trainer for both teams.

Matt and Alex hope to join the programs in success as well as in many aspects of the daily training. They would like to see each program support the other and create a positive sense of unity amongst the soccer players.

The Women's team will be anchored by its returners: Jessica Abdou and team MVP Daisy Hurtado. They will be joined by exciting newcomers in Elizabeth "Babe" Bower from Garden Grove HS and "Coco" from Estancia HS. This recruiting class is the best the program has seen in many years!
