Re-Entry Program

Re-Entry Services at Golden West College offers special programs for individuals who are returning to school after a lengthy absence or who are receiving TANF/AFDC benefits (CalWORKs). These re-entry programs are designed to provide students with the assistance needed to ensure a smooth transition into the college environment. Below is a description of services for Re-Entry and CalWORKs students.

Re-Entry Program

An introduction to the college and a campus tour is available for all participants prior to your first class meeting in the Fall and Spring semesters. You will be notified upon your acceptance into the program.

How to Apply for the Re-Entry Programs

Contact the Re-Entry/CalWORKs Center at (714) 895-8111 for an application form or stop by the Golden West College Administration Building to set up a counseling appointment.

Intake Counseling

An individual appointment with an intake counselor will be set-up to determine program and service eligibility.

Financial Assistance

Assistance in applying for special programs such as Financial Aid, EOP/S, CARE, CalWORKs, etc. will be provided for participants. Bus passes and gas vouchers are also available to a limited number of students.

Counseling

Individualized academic, vocational, career, and personal counseling with caring counselors is provided during the day and evening. All Re-Entry students are required to meet with a program counselor and develop a student educational plan.

School Supplies

Upon entering the program a starter kit of supplies will be given to each participant including binders, paper, pencils, pens, backpacks, etc.

Workshops

All participants will have the opportunity to attend free special topic workshops offered such as Time Management, Procrastination, Organizational Skills, Self-Esteen, Stress Management, Study Skills, etc. Specific topics will be developed around student interest.

Career Assessment

Participants can be referred for free computerized career assessment and individualized interpretation of results.
