The Engineering Technology program provides the basic skills and certifiable expertise that industry desires and needs for positions such as Electronics Engineering Technologist. Electronics Engineering Technologists fill positions in the electronics industry including: circuit design and modification, laboratory and field testing, supervision of manufacturing and assembly, quality assurance, technical sales, field service, and supervision and certification of new installation projects. They are involved with all products and systems of the electronics industry, including radio, radar, computers, microprocessors, robots, autopilots, audio and video systems, automotive electronics, medical instruments, security systems, electrical energy production and navigation systems.
The program also provides a pathway for transfer to a four year degree program such as the Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology at Cal Poly Pomona, California State University, Long Beach (CSULB),

(CSULA) as well as many others. Internships and cooperative work experience with local industry are encouraged to provide valuable “real world” experiences and broaden the depth of the students’ preparation. As part of the department’s on-going activities, Engineering Technology students participate in the program’s real world, sustainable projects such as robotics competitions and solar electric conversion for homes and electric vehicles. Outreach activities include participation in college-wide vocational career days and high school senior day activities, as well as presentations by faculty at local high schools and community events. Robotic home and industrial automation (consumer electronics) is a new key technology with employment potential.

Product and systems evaluations, cost estimating, industrial controls, technical sales, customer service, and integration, monitoring, and support of electronic systems are a few of the responsibilities of engineering technologists coming from the program
