Journalism offers courses in writing for news media, introduction to mass communications and courses which support the campus newspaper, The Western Sun. The former classes transfer as journalism classes to the CSU system. Some of The Western Sun classes may transfer as electives on a case-by-case basis. The program has one full-time instructor.

both by the California Newspaper Publishers Association and Journalism Association of Community College.
The newspaper is produced electronically and printed with full color on the front and back pages.
The adviser is a long-time professional journalist who was formerly a correspondent for the Los Angeles Times.
