WHAT IS ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY? Engineering Technology is the work that involves the application of scientific and technical knowledge for the purpose of solving practical problems. Most engineering technicians specialize in certain areas, learning skills and working in the same disciplines as engineers. Control System Technicians operate, install, and maintain industrial control and process data systems in a variety of industries such as salt processing plants, oil and chemical refineries, food processing plants, and other industries using automated control equipment. They may specialize as field technicians for technical companies. The technician may also construct prototypes and design test fixtures.
