SAT Prep Seminar
(Recommended age 15 & older)

The SAT is used by most colleges to make admission decisions and is designed to measure math, verbal, and critical thinking skills. This program covers test-taking strategies to handle, the essay sentence completion, critical reading, grammar, arithmetic, algebra and geometry questions. Other topics covered include guessing strategies, process of elimination, pacing, and how to gain points by thinking like the test-makers. Participants will build confidence, reduce test anxiety, and increase their vocabulary. Materials included are the Ivy West SAT Course Book, practice homework problems, priority word list, SAT word groups, practice SATs and diagnostic score reports. This program is consistent with the recommendations for SAT preparation offered by The College Board (the organization that administers the SAT). The SAT in next scheduled on May 1 at local high schools.

Memory Power & Study Skills
(Ages 9-17)

Visualize your child with tremendous learning and study skills. Imagine your child increasing his or her memory ten times, reading pages in seconds, reducing study time, and easily getting all A's in school. Kids will learn a simple and fun method which will help them accelerate learning and reduce study time. Participants will learn techniques to help them remember what they read, see, and hear; improve math, spelling and note-taking skills; and increase concentration. An optional $7 material fee for a CD is payable at the workshop.

Let's Spell It Right!
(Ages 8-14)

colorful alphabet lettersThere are four simple steps to becoming an excellent speller. Youngsters learn to apply these steps so that they can spell any word at any time. During this workshop, fun pretests and posttests are given to show kids how they can dramatically improve their spelling skills. Being a dynamite speller will boost your child's confidence and self-esteem and lay the foundation for further success in school. Children with dyslexic problems are encouraged to attend.

New course offeringMiddle School Math Whiz
(Ages 11-13)

girls writing math equation on chalkboardEnhance your child’s math skills in this exciting, “hands-on” workshop. Designed for children in 6th to 8th grade, key concepts will be reviewed and practiced to reinforce pre-algebra content.  In a challenging, yet fun environment, participants will engage in games, activities, and contests to reinforce concepts including: integer operations, fraction operations, exponents, and order of operations. Direct instruction, repeated modeling, peer coaching and group work will be used to motivate and engage the participants in their learning and give them keys to success.
