Body Shape Up: Aerobics

A program especially designed for seniors over age 55. This program is recommended for all those new to exercise or those eager to get back in shape. Concentration will be on body preparation to exercise by building muscle strength, correct posture, breathing development, cardiovascular fitness, and care of arthritic joints. Emphasis will be placed on progressing gradually into the Part II and/or Circuit Weight Training programs.
Program fee $34 with Gold Key Card; $40 without Gold Key Card

Part II

Prerequisite: Completion of Senior Aerobics Part I or actively involved in a fitness regimen.
This program is designed for the energetic senior who actively exercises. Emphasis will be placed on movement, flexibility, strengthening, breathing, and cardiovascular performance. Progress is on an individual level.

Exercise equipmentCircuit Weight Training

Using universal weight equipment, this circuit weight training program is for men and women, ages 55-80. Emphasis will be placed on strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular benefit. Enrollment in Aerobics for Seniors and Circuit Weight Training for Seniors equals a total fitness program.

Gold Key Card Program

Gold Key Cards are available to individuals 60 years or older, for a charge of $10 per year. Cards are valid through June 30, 2010. A Gold Key Card entitles senior citizens to a reduced rate at designated events, including:

  • Keys on a chainFree parking in student stalls on campus when the Gold Key Card is displayed hanging from the rear view mirror.

  • Tickets for theater and other cultural events at a substantial discount.

  • Discount prices on specified events, seminars, workshops, etc., that are planned for seniors.

  • Reduced rates on services in Cosmetology of Golden West College (Tuesdays through Fridays).

Gold Key Cards are not replaceable if lost. Purchase Gold Key Cards in person at the Community Services Office in the Community Center. Monday - Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
