This workshop is designed for the beginning and intermediate actor. Find out how to break into commercials, television and film. Using actual commercial and TV scripts, learn the basics of working in front of the camera, including script analysis, vocal technique, and physical presentation. You will also learn the business side of acting, including resumes, photos, and getting and agent. Directors Guild member and director, Robert Michael Conrad will discuss marketing yourself in Hollywood. A tape of the participant performances will be shown to a S.A.G. agent for possible representation, if desired. Participants may be invited to participate in an Indie Film as background or a TV Internet Series. A $3 material fee is payable at the first meeting.

Mystery shopping is used by hundreds of well-known businesses to ensure consistent, top-quality service from their employees. It is a fantastic way for you to earn money and have fun at the same time, doing what you love to do. Mystery shoppers receive assignments from companies that do business evaluations and you could become one of them. Learn how mystery shopping works, what types of forms are used, do’s and don’ts of completing assignments, and how to get in the “shoppers” network. Participants can participate in a practice shop during lunch break. A $20 materials fee for a comprehensive workbook is payable at the workshop.

Introduction to Digital Photography

digital SLR cameraAre you ready to transform your snapshots into great shots? This fun, “hands-on” workshop will demystify the settings on your digital camera including ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed, Image Size, Image Quality, and White Balance. Learn about how and when to take advantage of your camera’s different exposure modes, including Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority as well as Manual, Portrait, Action, Night, and Landscape. After shooting you will use the latest Apple computers in the GWC Digital Arts Lab (don’t be scared if you are a PC user!) to import, organize and edit your images using Picasa, a free software application that works on both PCs and MACs. Editing features include cropping, removing red-eye, changing color and contrast, simple retouching, converting to black and white and adding a tint. You will also learn how to email your photos, burn a CD and create collages and slide shows of your images. Bring your camera with freshly charged batteries, your camera manual and the cord that came with it to connect it to a computer or a card reader. This workshop is ideal for people with a new DSLR or a smaller camera with some manual controls. A $5 fee for materials is payable at the first meeting.
