THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS FEE WAIVER (BOGW)
Effective Summer 2007, the BOGW will pay your college enrollment fee ($20/unit) only if you are a California resident, and one of the following conditions applies to you when you enroll:
- You have already qualified for some form of Federal financial aid other than an FFEL Loan during the same academic year for which you are seeking a BOGW.
- You or your parents are receiving TANF/Cal WORKS benefits, SSI or General Assistance at the time that you apply for the BOGW. You will be required to provide documentation to show participation in one of these programs.
- You fall into the qualifying income bracket as determined by filling out a BOGW application. The Financial Aid Office will process your application and tell you if you qualify
BOG Fee Waiver Application for 2007-2008 will be posted in early April.
The Board of Governors Fee Waiver Application (BOGG) is available online. If you have any problems with this online application, please contact the Financial Aid Office in person or at 714.895.8394.
How does the BOG work?
You do not receive any money as you would a grant; instead your fee is waived. If you fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and identify GWC as a college that you want your Student Aid Report sent to at least four weeks before you register and you qualify; OR
If you fill out a BOGW application before you register and qualify;
Your fee waiver will be posted on the college’s registration fee screen and you will not be billed for your $20/unit fee.
If you send your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in later, or fill out a BOGW application and qualify after registering for classes, and if you have paid your fees, you can request a refund from the registration office for the same semester. Your fee waiver will be posted on the college’s registration fee screen and you will not be billed for your $20/unit fee.
