Bixby Mansion
Golden West College Floral Department was invited to create Floral "Beds" at the California State Floral Association's Floral Design Event “Reflections of History & Rooms In Bloom”. These special floral art creations enhanced the front lawn of this 7,000 square foot mansion.
The event took place in Long Beach at the Bixby Mansion, September 30 – August 3, 2008. The house, reflection pools and gardens have been restored and the mansion is now a designated historical residence.
Many hours were donated to the event by Gail Call AIFD, Miriam Somoano AIFD and Golden West College Floral Design students. Their efforts really showed with the creation of their floral art bed and the beauty of the final design.
Special thanks to the creators of these awesome student floral objects. Thanks to Golden West College Alumni Jacqueline Juhlke and current GWC students Gisele Chamberlain, Trudy Ridings and Ivana Royse for their creative efforts in the actual planning and designing of their incredibly beautiful “flower beds”.
Orange County Wholesale Flowers of Santa Ana generously donated flowers to create three of GWC’s beds. Costa Mesa Florist was also a generous sponsor of a bed. We thank you!!
Golden West College Floral Design students continue to express their dedication and creativity to this awesome career.
