NARET Program Student Exchange Opportunity . . .

The NARET: North American Renewable Energy Training* program offers GWC students the opportunity to live, work and study in Canada and Mexico. NARET students participate in learning modules focusing on renewable energy technologies — hydro, solar photovoltaic, wind, biomass, geothermal and tidal. Student practicums and work-related experiences are part of each program module. Upon completion of the program, students receive a Renewable Energy Technology certificate.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Am I eligible to apply?
Interested candidates must be enrolled in either the GWC Environmental Studies program or Engineering Technology program and have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Applications for exchange are accepted each semester.

2. What is the cost?
Successful applicants will receive up to $3,000 toward airfare and living expenses. Language study stipends are also available.

3. Will I get credit for my studies?
You will receive full academic credit at Golden West College for the coursework that you complete while studying in Canada or Mexico.

4. Does the program include language and culture preparation?
Yes! Language and culture study are part of each student’s pre-departure orientation. Language immersion programs are also available in host countries.
