For their strength in the classroom and in their respective sports, two USC student-athletes have earned 2007 Academic All-District honors. On the men's side, senior water polo player Pavol Valovic has been honored on the Second Team, picking up his first such award after joining the Trojan team last year as a junior transfer.
Valovic, from Bratislava, Slovakia, easily holds the top GPA on the men's water polo team, and helped get the Trojans to the NCAA championship game in both his seasons at Troy, winning the 2005 title and placing second in 2006. He also was named USC's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2006. Following his senior season, Valovic holds a 3.67 GPA as an international relations global business major. He also earned Superior honors as a member of the AWPCA 2006 All-American Academic Team. He scored 19 goals in his senior season to finish with 33 goals in his two-year Trojan career.
