An introduction to the models and nomenclature of modern Astronomy. This includes the solar system, the Milky Way, and the universe. The historical perspective is emphasized. A survey of the methods of astronomical observation is also presented. Lecture. Letter grade only. Transferable to CSU; UC.

An introduction to a cross section of the concepts and models used by astronomers to elucidate the nature of planets, stars, and galaxies. The practical application of methods involving the analysis of electromagnetic radiation will be emphasized. This course with Astronomy G100 satisfies the general education natural science requirement. Lab. Optional pass/no pass grade. Transferable to CSU; UC.
