Golden West College Nursing Department Welcomes The National League For Nursing Accrediting Commission March 7, 8, & 9
The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, the board overseeing prescribed standards for nursing departments and programs in higher educational institutions, will conduct a scheduled three-day visitation at Golden West College on March 7, 8, and 9.
The visitation includes meetings with students, faculty members, and administrators; observations in classrooms and the Human Patient Simulation Center, where nursing students are taught how to program adult and toddler mannequins to stimulate real-life physical responses; and clinical site observations at Hoag Memorial Hospital, Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, and the Village, a homeless shelter in Long Beach. In addition, the commission site visitors will meet with community members on Wednesday, March 8, 4 - 5:00 p.m. in the Humanities building, room 114.
The commission site visitors attending are Dr. Nora Tully, professor of nursing at Queens Borough Community College in New York; Dr. Joanne Leski, professor of nursing at William Rainey Harper College in Illinois; and Denyse J. Addison, education specialist for the women and children division at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey.
The Golden West College Nursing Department was established in 1967 and has had continuous accreditation. Scheduled reaccreditations are every eight years.
