Golden West College Patrons 13th Annual Fashion Show & Fundraiser
Ready to ‘Cruise Into Fall’ on the S.S. Scholarship on Saturday, October 15

As the Golden West College Patrons auxiliary prepares to anchor another eventful afternoon of style, fine food, and breathtaking fun at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort on Saturday, October 15, it’s pleasantly obvious that this college-based organization has sustained its long-standing, uncompromising reputation—on integrity.

“We are honored to support the students and the college,” Joanne Bumm, president of the GWC Patrons says, “and it gives us great satisfaction in helping as many students as possible realize that their career ambitions are obtainable with a good education.”

Three Decades Built on Generosity and Hard Work
The Golden West College Patrons [community members, proprietors, alumni, and retired and current college employees] have provided the college as well as the community, with exceptional volunteer services in raising and donating thousands of dollars toward scholarships for deserving students.  From the organization’s first day of inception to now, these dedicated men and women have paved the road for hundreds of current and former students since 1973.

In the early years, the Patrons invested numerous hours in annual fundraising drives to establish permanent scholarships, which are historically important to the college today.  One of the most prestigious scholarships is the Patrons Founders Scholarship.  This was established in honor of the organization’s founders:  Mary Boyce, Marion Aguirre, Corrie Broussard, Terry Burns, Elaine Craft, Bobette Dannettell, Peggy Freeman, Jeanne Hickey, Lucy Horner, Beth Kennedy, Diddy Lammers, Penny Loomer, Connie McCausland, Sally Newell, Mrs. Norbert Murphy, Diane Reed, Elaine Turnbull, Grace Winchell, and Florence Woolbright.

The Patrons have also established other scholarships significant to the communities that the college serves.  The scholarships are the Patrons Monarch Scholarship, Patrons Nursing Alumni Scholarship, Patrons Past Presidents Scholarship, and 12 High School Scholarships.

In addition to the Patrons’ fundraising efforts, they continue to volunteer thousands of hours yearly by working as volunteers at college events for the Fine Arts Gallery, Scholarship & Awards Ceremony, Graduation, and the Gala.

“The Golden West College Patrons are a very special group of men and women with a generous passion for helping students achieve their career goals through higher education,” said Wes Bryan, president of Golden West College.
