Increased Bicycle Theft on Campus - From the Department of Public Safety
Golden West College has experienced a sudden increase of bicycle thefts. Public Safety has increased patrols in the immediate areas; however take it upon yourself to securely lock your bike.

Notes from the LAPD:
- Record the serial number/model/make/color of your bike, store in your phone and at home.
- Take photos of your bike
- Invest in at least one quality bike lock (ulock, 3/8” hex or quad chain, heavy padlock). Cable and many chain locks can easily be clipped.
- Lock and secure your bike at all times when not in use

Dialing 911 from a campus phone will alert Public Safety which will provide assistance faster than from a cell phone.
The Public Safety Office is located in the Health Science Building at the west end of campus, next to Math Science and Humanities. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
Golden West College is a pay to park site, all vehicles utilizing parking lots are required to display a valid permit at all times. Permits may be purchased per semester online or by day from the dispensers located in each lot. Citations are issued for violations of the campus parking rules and regulations. All citation appeals are referred to the College Parking Adjudication Committee via an appeal website.
Parking Permits
Parking permits are available online for $30 per semester ($20 for Board of Governors Grant recipients) and $15 for the summer session. A current, valid parking permit must be properly displayed either on the left rear bumper, suspended from the rear view mirror, on the dashboard, or on the inside lower left front windshield. Motorcycles/mopeds shall have the permit affixed to the left front fork. Mechanical permit dispensers are available in each parking lot for daily parking ($2). Permits not fully displayed as described will be eligible for a citation. A student whose permit is lost or stolen must purchase a new permit.
The goal of the Public Safety Department is to provide members of the academic community with a safe and orderly environment in which to work and learn.
