IMPORTANT: July 27 Update

Dear Colleagues,

Happy Monday! When the Coast District announced the campus closure on March 17, my original thought was that it would last a few weeks or months at the most. Today marks 132 days and my 90th note since the closure. Starting this week, I will be transitioning to weekly updates. Below are this week’s updates and announcements.

Re-opening Update
On July 21, I shared Governor Newsom was expected to provide an update on re-opening guidelines for higher education by the end of the week. As of today, Governor Newsom has yet to announce guidelines. Thanks to Pete Bouzar, GWC has a re-opening plan in place that is ready to go, see below. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. 😊

We have a 6 phase plan to reopen the state. The plan will be a phased plan that we will plan to utilize in phases. The phases will be planned and the planning will be phased. We will move quickly and slowly to open but remain closed. I have created a staff of staffers who will plan the phase and planning while phasing their phases. And that is our reopening plan.

COVID-19 Q&A, July 28 at 3:00 pm
Tomorrow’s COVID-19 Q&A via Zoom will address the psychology behind conspiracy theories, provide a general update on Orange County, and answer questions regarding COVID-19. All faculty, staff, and administrators are encouraged to attend.

GWC Live, July 30
The next GWC Live segment is scheduled for Thursday, July 30 at 3:00 pm on GWC’s Official Instagram. All staff, faculty, and administrators are encouraged to attend.
