Veterans Resource Center (VRC)

On behalf of Golden West College, we welcome and thank you for serving our country! GWC is proud to assist and stand by active duty military, veterans, and their families as they pursue their personal and academic goals at our veteran-friendly campus.

Mission Statement

The Veterans Resource Center (VRC) addresses the unique needs of our GWC student veteran population by providing them with the tools they need to meet their academic and personal goals. The VRC does this successfully by collaborating with various campus and community resources. Through this collaboration, the VRC serves as a valuable point of contact for its student veterans, helping them to receive the following services and support:

VRC Elements

The VRC is a welcoming place for our student veterans to relax, grab a bite to eat, and study. We highly recommend our student veterans to visit and utilize the resources in the VRC. We work to help all of our student veterans get connected to different campus and community resources, according to their needs and goals. If you have any questions or concerns, whether they be academic or personal, we will assist you until you get your answers.

To allow for our student veterans to do all of this, the VRC houses the following resources and tools:

• Lounge Area
If you’d like to relax and take a break, enjoy our comfortable lounge area. You can stretch out and catch up with your friends on our comfortable couches. There’s also a TV in this space used to share important school and community announcements.

• Computer Lab
Do you have a paper or some online math homework to crank out? If so, stop by and use our computer lab to get your assignments accomplished. We also have free academic printing; so, you’re able to print as much as you need.

• Quiet Study Area
If you need a place to review your notes before an exam, you can hunker down in our quiet study area. There are two large whiteboards at your disposal, adjustable seating, and outlets. And, there’s a large window with a beautiful view of the campus.

• Mess Hall
Hungry? Grab a bite to eat in our mess hall. You’ll find grab and go snacks, breakfast sandwiches, string cheese, water, etc. And, if you’d like to make a cup of coffee before starting your day, we have a Keurig machine to brew yummy cups of joe.

• Peer Mentor Program – Coming Soon!

The VRC also features perks that give our student veterans the chance to find comradery, allies, and academic support:
