Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS)

STEP 1 – GWC Application. Everyone who is interested in taking classes at Golden West College must first submit an application to the Admissions Office. Applications can be obtained from the following this link: Application to Apply

STEP 2 – GWC Online Orientation. You will find the online orientation link on your MyGWC student portal under the student tab on the right-hand side under the online orientation section.

STEP 3 – New Student Packet. Students are required to complete a DSPS Student Packet. The packet includes the Student Intake form, Students Rights and Responsibilities, and Consent of Release. A copy of your Disability diagnosis is required as well. A DSPS Verification form is provided in the packet.

STEP 4 – Math & English Placement Tests. Assessments are handled on a walk-in basis. You can call the Assessment Center at 714-895-8388 for further information. If requesting special accommodations for the assessment test, please contact 714-895-8721, and schedule your appointment through DSPS. Sample questions can be obtained from the following link. [Sample questions]

STEP 5 – Once you have completed the new Student Packet, return the completed Student Packet to DSPS where an appointment will be made with the DSPS Counselor. The counselor will provide the student with information about the college, academic matriculation and classes, transfer and degree requirements, vocational programs, student services, and academic accommodations. Eligibility for services will be determined based on Disability Verification. *Please Note, the Student Packet must be returned to the student DSPS office completed and along with a copy of their disability verification before an appointment can be made.
