LVN-RN Program

LVN-RN applications will only be accepted via mail. Applications will not be accepted in-person. Download your application here: LVN-RN Application [PDF]. Applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2024. Applications postmarked after April 15, 2024 will not be accepted. Do not contact the Nursing Office to verify if your application was received.

The LVN-RN Program is for the Licensed Vocational Nurse with a current active LVN license who want to pursue an Associate Degree in Nursing. Completion of this program will award the graduate with the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and prepare the graduate for a seamless transition to a Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) program. The graduate is eligible to apply for the National Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (RN-NCLEX).  

Admission is based on cohort seat availability.

Application Process

Read the GWC catalog sections about academic regulations, graduation requirements, and the Associate degree nursing program. The catalog is available online, in the GWC library, or for purchase in the college bookstore. GWC Catalog_Nursing_LVN-RN

Complete LVN-RN Nursing Application which includes the following:

  1. Attach all unofficial transcripts from ALL colleges attended including the coursework not applied toward the nursing program.
  2. Proof of high school graduation (copy of diploma or official transcripts). If you already have a college degree as evidenced by unofficial transcript submitted, go to step#3  is not necessary.
  3. Copy of your current LVN license without restriction.
  4. BIO G220, G225, G210 must be completed within the last 7 years.
  5. Current direct patient care experience as an LVN(employer verification letter- minimum of 1 year work experience in a patient care).
  6. Signature on Page 2 of the application acknowledging your understanding of consequences on falsification of information on the application.
  7. Attach an unofficial TEAS report.
  8. Send official transcripts separately to GWC Admissions and Records by  the last day of the application filing date
    • Students of Coast District (GWC, OCC, and Coastline Colleges) DO NOT need to submit official transcripts. Unofficial transcripts are accepted.
Failure to complete this process results in an incomplete application and is ineligible for processing.   

Selection Process

  • All complete applications submitted by the deadline are evaluated.
  • Admission is based on cohort space availability.
  • Qualified applicants who are not selected are encouraged to re-apply next to the next application period. We do not maintain a waitlist.
  • Admission offer will be sent to the CCCD student email address.
