Student Nursing handbook

Nursing Graduates

Nursing is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, facilitation of healing, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations. Nurses plan and provide medical and nursing care to patients in the hospital, at home or in other settings who are suffering from chronic or acute physical or mental ill health.

The School of Nursing at Golden West College offers a program that leads to an Associate Degree in Nursing and qualifies the graduate to take the National Licensing exam to become a Registered Nurse.

We highly recommend students do not select the option of P/NP for Anatomy, Microbiology or Physiology. If a student selects this option it will be equivalent to a C letter grade.
