LVN-RN Program

The LVN-RN Program is for the Licensed Vocational Nurse with a current active LVN license who want to pursue an Associate Degree in Nursing. Completion of this program will award the graduate with the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and prepare the graduate for a seamless transition to a Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) program. The graduate is eligible to apply for the National Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (RN-NCLEX).  

Admission is based on cohort seat availability.



Pick up your application from the Nursing Office M-F 8:30am - 4:00pm between April 3-13, 2023.

Applications are due to the Nursing Office by April 14, 2023 at 3:00 pm PST.

Application Process

Read the GWC catalog sections about academic regulations, graduation requirements, and the Associate degree nursing program. The catalog is available online, in the GWC library, or for purchase in the college bookstore. GWC Catalog_Nursing_LVN-RN 

Complete LVN-RN Nursing Application which includes the following: 

  • Attach all unofficial transcripts from ALL colleges attended, even if the coursework is not being applied toward the nursing program.  
  • Proof of high school graduation (copy of diploma or official transcripts). If you already have a college degree as evidenced by unofficial transcript submitted, this step is not necessary.  
  • Copy of your current LVN license without restriction.
  • Current direct patient care experience as an LVN  (employer letter- minimum of 1 year work experience in a patient care).  
  • Signature on Page 2 of the application acknowledging understanding of consequences of falsifying the application  
  • Attach unofficial TEAS report  
  • Send official transcripts separately to GWC Admissions and Records by the last day of the application filing date. 
  • Failure to complete this process results in an incomplete application and is ineligible for processing.    
  • Students of Coast District (GWC, OCC, and Coastline Colleges) DO NOT need to submit official transcripts. Unofficial transcripts are accepted. 


Selection Process

  • All complete applications that are submitted by the deadline are evaluated. 
  • Admission is based space availability.
  • Selection of admissions is based on random lottery.
  • Qualified applicants who are not selected are encouraged to re-apply next to the next application period. We do not maintain a waitlist. 
  • Admission offer will be sent to the CCCD student email address.
