Construction Update for Week Beginning: 8/14/23

Language Arts Complex - Measure M:
Construction activity continues on the interior with completion of punch list items and final cleaning. Furniture deliveries are ongoing. Exterior finishing continues with metal panel installation. Site work continues with concrete placement, restoration of the access road between the Math & Science bldg. and the LRC, and preparation for installing irrigation lines. The work on the access road between the Math & Science bldg. and the LRC will cause construction related and delivery vehicles to take other routes to access the site; either entering campus via the access road between the Native Garden and Auto Tech, or the access road between Old CJ and Nursing, and entering the site either at the Bookstore or Forum I. The construction fences remain extended on the north-west side at the GenEd bldg to accommodate site work. There is no passage from the LRC through Gen Ed to the Bookstore, and on the south side, fences are blocking the pathway between the Math & Science bldg and the Business bldg/Forum 1. Adjacent sidewalks and pathways to the south may be used to navigate around this obstacle. Please use the Campus pedestrian entrances to the north between Auto Tech and the Native Garden, and to the south between Math & Science and Public Safety to access the campus from the west parking lots off of Goldenwest St; allow extra time to reach your destination. Use caution around trucks entering and exiting in all areas. Portions of Parking Lot C remain barricaded for construction traffic; there is no parking within the barricades. Please watch for and obey flagmen in this area. Roads and walkways within fenced off construction areas are not accessible to pedestrian traffic; please use alternate routes to get around Campus. Exercise caution around construction vehicles and areas surrounding the construction site. Noise level will be low to medium for these activities. (See attached map [PDF] for work areas and construction vehicle routes)

GenEd Bldg Demo Project:
The demolition of the General Education building on campus continues in its early phase this week with abatement activity. Trash bins may be placed along the access road between the Native Garden and Auto Tech. Extra care should be taken along this route. Noise level will be low for these activities. (See attached map [PDF] for work area)

Restroom Remodel Project - Campus:
Older restrooms throughout campus are being remodeled. Currently, the restrooms at the Student Union patio and at the Theater (between the Theater and Music bldg.) are closed. The nearest available restrooms are in the Student Services Center, and at the Fine Arts building. Noise level will be low for these activities. (See attached map [PDF] for work area)

Painting / RecEd Building - Campus:
Painting of the Recreation Education building continues this week. A boom lift will be used; please use caution around the lift and watch for Caution tape. Noise level will be low for these activities. (See attached map [PDF] for work area)

Nursing Building - Campus:
Renovation in the Nursing building continues. Please use caution around this area and watch for contractors entering and exiting the building/area. Noise level will be low for these activities. (See attached map [PDF] for work area)

Site Restoration Project - Campus:
Restoration of the old KOCE building demolition site located on the east side of campus between the Amphitheater and Fine Arts, north of Forum 2 continues. Additional soil may be imported this week. Contractors with trucks and equipment will be entering and exiting the site from the east parking lots off of Gothard St. via the access roads north and south of the Amphitheater. Please use caution in and around these areas and mind the flagmen when vehicles are maneuvering. The site will remain fenced off with no public access within the fence. Noise level will be low for these activities. (See attached map [PDF] for work area)
