Construction Update for Week Beginning: 9/4/23

Language Arts Complex - Measure M:
The new Language Arts Complex building is open for classes.  Construction activity on the interior is nearly complete, and exterior finishing continues with metal panel installation.  Site work continues with installation of irrigation lines and landscaping.  Expecting the delivery of large trees toward the end of the week, with large equipment causing increased construction traffic.  Passage from the LRC to the Bookstore is now open via the sidewalks on the north side of the building.  Some construction fences remain and caution tape has been placed around landscaping areas.  Please mind the caution tape and stay out of landscaping areas.  Exercise caution around construction vehicles and areas surrounding the construction site.  Noise level will be low for these activities.  (See attached map [PDF] for work areas)

GenEd Bldg Demo Project - Campus and Measure M:
The General Education building on campus is scheduled to be demolished by the end of 2023, and new landscaping in place before the end of the spring 2024 semester.  Preparation for the demolition continues with abatement activity and the erection of the construction fence around the project later in the week.  There will be increased construction vehicle activity around the building that may impact the access road north of the GenEd bldg.  Extra care should be taken on this access road and around this building.  Please watch for and steer clear of areas with caution tape.  There will be no pedestrian access within the construction fence.  Noise level will be low to moderate for these activities.  (See attached map [PDF] for work area and construction vehicle routes)

Restroom Remodel Project - Campus:
Older restrooms throughout campus are being remodeled.  Currently, the restrooms at the Theater (between the Theater and Music bldg.) are closed.  As the Theater building restroom is finished and opened, the Rec. Ed restrooms will be closed next.  The nearest available restrooms are in the Student Services Center, Technology, and at the Fine Arts building.  Noise level will be low for these activities.  (See attached map [PDF] for work area)

Site Restoration Project - Campus:
Restoration of the old KOCE building demolition site located on the east side of campus between the Amphitheater and Fine Arts, north of Forum 2 continues.  Contractors with trucks and equipment will be entering and exiting the site from the east parking lots off of Gothard St. via the access roads north and south of the Amphitheater.  Please use caution in and around these areas and mind the flagmen when vehicles are maneuvering.  The site will remain fenced off with no public access within the fence.  Noise level will be low for these activities.  (See attached map [PDF] for work area and construction vehicle routes)

LRC Window Repair - Campus:
Windows on the north side of the LRC are being repaired starting this week.  Scaffolding up the side of the building will be erected from the courtyard between the LRC and the LRC Annex, and will not affect passage around the building.  (See attached map [PDF] for work area)
