Construction Update for Week Beginning: 9/18/23

Language Arts Complex - Measure M:
The new Language Arts Complex building is open for classes. Construction activity throughout is nearly complete, with some punch list items remaining in the west building. Site work continues with installation of irrigation lines and landscaping. Expecting the delivery of large trees this week, with large equipment causing increased construction traffic. Construction fences have been removed and sidewalks around the building are open to pedestrians. Please mind the caution tape around the landscaping areas. Exercise caution around construction vehicles and areas surrounding the construction site. Noise level will be low for these activities. (See attached map [PDF] for work areas)

GenEd Bldg Demo Project - Campus and Measure M:
The General Education building on campus is scheduled to be demolished by the end of 2023, and new landscaping in place before the end of the spring 2024 semester. The construction fence around the project is up and the building and surrounding area are being prepped for demolition. There will be increased construction vehicle activity around the building that may impact the access road north of the GenEd bldg. Extra care should be taken on this access road and around this building. Please watch for and steer clear of areas with caution tape. There will be no pedestrian access within the construction fence. Noise level will be low to moderate for these activities. (See attached map [PDF] for work area and construction vehicle routes)

Restroom Remodel Project - Campus:
Older restrooms throughout campus are being remodeled. Currently, the restrooms at Rec Ed are closed. The nearest available restrooms are at the Student Union, Technology, and Fine Arts buildings. Noise level will be low for these activities. (See attached map [PDF] for work area)

Site Restoration Project - Campus:
Restoration of the old KOCE building demolition site located on the east side of campus between the Amphitheater and Fine Arts continues. Additional soil has been delivered and grading will continue into this week. Installation of irrigation lines and storm drains will commence. Contractors with trucks and equipment will be entering and exiting the site from the east parking lots off of Gothard St. via the access roads north and south of the Amphitheater. Please use caution in and around these areas and mind the flagmen when vehicles are maneuvering. The site will remain fenced off with no public access within the fence. Noise level will be low for these activities. (See attached map [PDF] for work area and construction vehicle routes)

LRC Window Repair - Campus:
Repair of the windows on the south side of the LRC continues this week. Scaffolding up the side of the building has been erected from the courtyard between the LRC and the LRC Annex, and will not affect passage around the building. (See attached map [PDF] for work area)

Roof Repair - Campus:
Restoration of the roof on the LRC continues, and the Business bldg. will be next in line. Please watch for and stay clear of workers and vehicles in these areas. (See attached map [PDF] for work areas)
