All VA Education Benefit requests must be submitted through the Military-Connected Student Portal using the link provided below. This includes the Request for Certification, Add/Drop Certified Classes, Primary School Letter, or any other required VA-related documentation.
Submitting your forms through the portal ensures they are received securely, processed in a timely manner, and tracked appropriately. Students are encouraged to submit all required requests as early as possible each semester to avoid delays in certification and benefit payments.
Request for Certification:
Students using VA Education Benefits including Chapter 31 (VR&E), Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 GI Bill®), or Chapter 35 (DEA) must submit a Request for Certification each semester in order to have their enrolled classes certified with the VA. The Certification is an official report submitted by a School Certifying Official (SCO) via the Enrollment Manager, confirming student enrollment details, tuition, and fees for VA education benefits.
Add or Drop Certified Class:
Students using VA Education Benefits that have added or dropped a course after it has been certified, must submit a Add/Drop Certified Class Form.
Primary School Letter Request:
Students using VA Education Benefits who are taking classes at a school outside of the Coast Community College District (Golden West College, Coastline College, or Orange Coast College) must submit a Primary School Letter request to have a letter sent from Golden West College to the guest school.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your Request for Certification, please contact the School Certifying Official, Stephani Rogers at vets@gwc.cccd.edu or (714) 895-8140
