Senior Healthcare Technician

The Noncredit Senior Healthcare Technician program focuses primarily on the elderly’s health and safety. You will learn how to assist with daily activities such as bathing and grooming, monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, and respiration rates), perform basic CPR, support patients with mobility devices to prevent falls and provide medication support. This certificate program prepares graduates for employment in assisted living, residential, and memory care facilities, and more.

We offer this program in Spring, Summer, and Fall! The next cohort starts in Summer 2026 and Fall 2026.

How to Apply for the Senior Healthcare Technician Program: 

Step 1: Apply to Golden West College
If you are not already a Golden West College student, you must first apply for College Admission to obtain a student ID number.

Step 2: Attend a Mandatory Information Session Via Zoom
To attend, you must have a GWC student ID number. If you already have one, complete the Information Session Sign-Up Form. The Information Sessions will be held virtually via Zoom. You will receive a reminder and a Zoom link a week before your session.

Available Information Sessions: 

Apr 16 (Thu) 1:30 pm: Info Session 1 (Zoom, 30)

Apr 17 (Fri) 10:00 am: Info Session 2 (Zoom, 30)

Apr 21 (Tue) 1:30 pm: Info Session 3 (Zoom, 30)

Apr 23 (Thu) 1:30 pm: Info Session 4 (Zoom, 30)

Apr 24 (Fri) 10:00 am: Info Session 5 (Zoom, 30)

(Registration opens April 1, 2026 at 9:00 AM)

Each session closes for registration at 4:00 pm the day before.

Step 3: Submit Your Application
After attending an information session, complete and submit the Senior Healthcare Technician Application.

Please note that you must attend the session on time and remain for the full session in order to submit your application.

Step 4: Register for Classes
The Noncredit Office will review your application. Once accepted, you will be registered in the first required class (NURSG050N). The other two courses, NURSG051N and NURSG052N, are taken concurrently. To earn the certificate, you must complete all three required courses within the same term.
