Salary Advancement Credit

A FULL-TIME FACULTY MEMBER who has not yet reached column V of the salary schedule desiring to receive salary advancement credit for a program of professional improvement including lower division courses may submit an application to the IPD Office. Faculty members may advance within the salary schedule in accordance with the CFE AFT contract.

HOW TO ADVANCE ON THE SALARY SCHEDULE:
A total of 20 semester units is required for Horizontal Salary Advancement.

Option 1 – Academic Coursework (20 Semester Units)
Complete all 20 semester units through upper-division academic coursework. Submit your official transcript to District Human Resources as documentation of completed coursework. This option is administered entirely by District HR. For assistance, contact Christina Rosales at crosales33@cccd.edu.

Note: If you are earning Continuing Education Units (CEUs) (e.g., an @ONE course through Fresno Pacific University), do not submit a Salary Advancement Credit (SAC) application to the IPD.

Option 2 – Academic Coursework + IPD Professional Improvement Credits
Complete 10 upper-division academic semester units (e.g. @ONE Fresno Pacific University units) plus 10 IPD Professional Improvement Credits. Refer to the SAC Handbook for a list of recommended IPD SAC courses.

Gale courses may be taken for IPD credits
@ONE courses may be taken for IPD credits, or if you enroll in the Fresno Pacific University option, may be taken for academic units. If taken for FPU units, you do not need to submit an application to the IPD.

Upper Division/Graduate-Level semester units

Faculty may contact Kyla Bentley at District HR for assistance at kbentley3@cccd.edu or call 714/438-4825. It is not necessary to submit an application to the IPD Office for upper division credits.

DISTRICT HR PROCEDURES:
Eligible full-time faculty on Columns I-IV of the salary schedule will be contacted by District HR and provided information on Horizontal Salary Advancement. The communication will include the District’s application and deadlines. The District application is an annual process and is required of faculty planning to earn salary adadvancement credits by either completing upper division/academic courses or going through the campus IPD/PDI for IPD/lower division credits. You may contact Kyla Bentley at kbentley3@cccd.edufor further information on the District HR procedures.

The IPD recommends:

@ONE - offers OPTIONAL graduate-level university credits by dual-enrolling at Fresno Pacific University. (Sponsored by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office). You do not need to submit a SAC application to the IPD when enrolling in @ONE FPU courses. Contact Christina Rosales at District HR for further assistance.

This is a courtesy list of institutions that may offer graduate-level credits. It is your responsibility to do your research to ensure that you enrolling in a course that meets the District guidelines. Costs vary.
