CPR, AED, and First AID Training

Wednesday, April 22, 2026

Intended Audience: All GWC Employees

Join us for CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training, where you’ll learn essential life-saving skills to help someone whose heart has stopped or who is no longer breathing. This critical training can significantly improve survival chances during emergencies. Participants will gain hands-on experience in key CPR techniques, including checking for responsiveness, calling for help, performing chest compressions, and providing rescue breaths. The workshop includes practice with both adult and child mannequins, as well as training on how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).  

Notes: This session does not qualify for part-time faculty compensation. Certificates will not be issued for this session.


Communicating with Neurodivergent Students: DO’s and DON’Ts

The DSPS Office & The LOOP invite you to our newest interactive training, Communicating with Neurodivergent Students: DO’s and DON’T’s. This is a part of our Annual Autism Acceptance trainings.Together, we’ll explore terminology, inclusive language that supports all forms of communication, and strategies to diffuse situations and address challenging behaviors in the moment. We will also have a student panel of current autistic GWC students, with opportunities for a Q&A.

AI Prompting in Practice: Tools for Your Role

No matter your role at the institution, this training helps employees move from simply trying AI to using it well. Through demonstrations and role-based breakout activities, participants will see how different AI systems respond to the same prompt and learn practical strategies for improving those results. The focus is on building better prompts—starting with a basic request and refining it into a clear, effective, and work-ready tool participants can immediately apply in their roles.

Self-Defense Training: Level 2

Location: RCJRC 146 (First floor of the Criminal Justice Training Center)

This session builds on practical self-defense strategies for everyday situations and includes a brief review of key safety concepts and situational awareness. The majority of the training will focus on hands-on practice, allowing participants to further develop basic defensive moves and techniques through guided drills and exercises. This session is ideal for individuals looking to strengthen their self-defense skills. Attendance in Level 1 is not required.

Safe Zone Training - Advanced

Location: Multicultural Center (2nd Floor of Student Union)

This advanced-level Safe Zone training expands employee and student participants’ understanding of LGBTQ+ identities while deepening their skills in building inclusive, affirming spaces across the GWC campus. Attendees should have some familiarity with the LGBTQ+ community. (Examples include: attendance at a past Safe Zone training in the last three years, active involvement with the LGBTQ+ community, either on- or off-campus, etc.)

Please note: The session also includes suicide awareness and prevention practices tailored to the unique mental health needs of gender and sexuality diverse people.

Notes:

  • This session is for part-time faculty compensation.
  • Lunch will be provided. Vegan and gluten free options will be available.

QPR Suicide Prevention Training

GWC Student Health Center presents QPR Suicide Prevention Training. Suicide is far too common. Know the warning signs and become more comfortable helping suicidal students, co-workers or loved ones. Become more aware of the college protocol for at-risk students.
