Join us for an inspiring Journey Speaker Talk with Eliza Hernández, Program Manager in Monitoring and Research at the Irvine Ranch Conservancy. Eliza will share her academic, career, and personal journey in the environmental field, offering valuable insights into her work and experiences. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with a professional in conservation science, ask questions, and explore the many pathways in STEM.

Alex Panda Armendariz (Mescalero Apache descendant) is an Indigenous scholar and professional serving the Southern California Indigenous community in multiple capacities. He is the Director of Tribal Relations at CSU San Bernardino and a graduate of UC Riverside with a BA in Liberal Studies and a minor in Native American Studies. He is also a current graduate student in the MS Regenerative Studies program at Cal Poly Pomona.
3 – 4:30 p.m., Outdoor tables by the Student Union, facing The Stand (next to the entrance of the Multicultural Center)
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a hands-on ceviche making workshop. Learn the history behind the dish, prepare your own serving, and take home a recipe card. The Basic Needs Center will share resources and host a short presentation. After the workshop, visit The Stand to explore food support and services available to students.

Join us for a field trip to La Plaza de Cultura y Artes & Olvera St in Los Angeles to experience the Día de los Muertos Festival. Enjoy cultural performances, food exploration, and vibrant traditions. See La Danza de la Muerte presented by Teatro Del Barrio, outdoor altar displays, and more. Food will be provided.
11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Student Services Center Portico
Dia de los Muertos is a day to celebrate our loved ones who have passed away. Come by to learn about the celebration, view student ofrendas (altars), face painting, and make crafts. Free food for all who participate in the event.
