Huntington Beach, Calif. — Golden West College officially launched its yearlong 60th anniversary celebration on June 23 with a special event in Primrose Park attended by faculty, staff, alumni, retirees, students, and community partners.
The celebration featured remarks from College and District leaders, reflections from one of GWC's earliest students, Jack Bowman, and perspectives from current students that highlighted the College's enduring impact on generations of learners. During the event, GWC also received certificates of recognition from local elected officials in honor of its 60th anniversary, including State Senator Tony Strickland, State Assembly Member Tri Ta, and representatives from the City of Huntington Beach and the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce.
The kickoff marks the beginning of a yearlong celebration that will include a football tailgate, classic car show, a concert in the park, and a 60 Days of Giving campaign, along with additional events recognizing the people, milestones, and achievements that have shaped Golden West College over the past six decades.
